How to Set Up Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics is a free web analytics tool launched on 14th November 2005. It helps to track and improve our marketing campaigns, website traffic, page performance, and conversion.

And, Google Analytics (GA4) launched in October 2020. To provide more relevant data about your website visitors. It is used on both websites and mobile apps. It helps to track web traffic, monitor marketing channels, and measure key performance indicators.

How to Setup Google Analytics (GA4)

  • Sign in to your Google Account.
  • Click on the “Start Measuring” button.
Measuring
  • In the Account setup, Add your Company name on the Account name field. And Click Next.

  • In Property Setup, Enter the property name and select Reporting time zone and Currency based on the reference.

  • If you need Universal property along with Google Analytics GA4, Click on the “Show advanced Options”
  • Switch on the toggle button and Add the Website URL.
  • Select the option “Create both a Google Analytics 4 and a Universal Analytics Property” and Enable enhance the measurement for Google Analytics 4 Property. And Click Next.

  • In About your business section, Select the industry category, business size, and how do you intend to use Google analytics with your business? (Tick all that apply) and click Create.

  • Google Analytics Terms of Service Agreement – Choose your Country/Region. And read the service agreement and check to accept the agreement. Click I Accept button.

  • After that you will see “Web Stream Details” here you can find the Measurement ID, and below the tagging instruction, you will find the Global site tags(gtag.js).

  • Copy & Paste the global site tag into the head section of your HTML.

Once Done,

  • You are Good to go! Now you will see the visitor’s engagement on the Google Analytics (GA4) Reports tab.

How to upgrade from Universal Property to Google Analytics (GA4)

  • Login to your Google Analytics account
  • Click on “Admin” below the Attribution & Discover.

  • Check the property column, Click on “GA4 Setup Assistant”

You will see the Google Analytics 4 Property Setup Assistant screen – Click “Get Started” to proceed further.

  • In Create a new Google analytics 4 property screen – Click create property.

  • Now, you will see the Google analytics 4 property setup assistant. It shows You’ve successfully connected your properties. 
  • Click on “See GA4 Property” and you will be redirected to the setup assistant page.

  • In Setup Assistant Screen, you will see the tag installation – click on the arrow to add Data stream.
Tag
  • In the Data Stream screen click the arrow near your website name you will lead to the web stream details screen. 
Web Stream
  • Here you will see the measurement id, and tagging instructions. 
  • Copy and paste the code on the <head> section of your HTML. To measure the visitor’s performance on Google Analytics GA4.
